Emergency Shelter Providers

The DSS Emergency Shelter Utilization Report has been updated to add an Ethnicity breakdown and to correct errors in the Primary Race breakdown to add “American Indian or Alaska Native” as a separate line item.

The ART report title “Department of Social Services Shelter Demographic” once available in the “(E)Funder Reports > DSS – Emergency Shelter” has been moved to the ARCHIVE folder located at (E)Funder Reports > ARCHIVE > DSS – Emergency Shelter” and is no longer fully supported as many of the data elements featured in it have been changed or replaced. This report will be replaced with a Non-ART report available to CCEH in the next few weeks with further information to come.

Transitional Living Providers Participating in the Point-in-Time

A new report for Transitional Housing programs who are participating in the 2012 sheltered PIT assessment is now available. This report title “E009 – PIT 2012 – Data Quality for Transitional Programs” is located in the “(E) Funder Reports > Point in Time” folder. A preview of this basic report is located at http://www.cthmis.com/reports/report_detail/1342/ . It’s a basic data quality report that should help TLP agencies spot check their PIT data completeness.

AHAR Season is Drawing to a Close

Posted on: Jan 17, 2012
By: James Buckley

The 2012 AHAR is now nearly complete for New Haven, Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford, Waterbury and Hartford with final submissions expected this week. We think this will be the best year yet for HMIS data in Connecticut due to the addition of S+C program’s mandatory entry into CT’s HMIS system, resulting in better coverage of Permanent Supportive Housing programs. The ease of this years AHAR is due to all the agency staff that have worked hard to improve and maintain their data quality throughout the year.

CT 2012 Point-In-Time Count Information

Posted on: Jan 16, 2012
By: James Buckley

We are quickly approaching the CT 2012 Point-In-Time Count, set to take place on January 25, 2012. This year, per HUD specifications we will only be conducting a sheltered count of the homeless population. In addition, we are using a simplified mechanism to ensure an efficient, effective count.

First, all Agencies/Programs will be entering their Population/Bed Count information via a webform instead of filling out paper program information forms as in years prior.

Secondly, only those agencies/programs that do not participate in HMIS will have to fill out paper surveys. The rest of the agencies/programs will have their client demographic data pulled directly from their respective CTHMIS.

A webinar was held on January 12, 2012 which outlined the 2012 PIT process which will be made available online at CTHMIS.com. If you have any questions about the Point-In-Time process please contact your 2012 PIT Area Point of Contact or Ed Lazu at The Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (elazu@cceh.org), resources and documents relating to the PIT can be found at CCEH’s PIT TA page located at http://www.cceh.org/ta/detail/point-in-time-2011/34.
